Job Description:
As Director of Competition Policy, Latin America, you will work closely with policymakers, regulators, industry associations, businesses, civil society, and academics across Latin America to build understanding and support for Meta’s positions on competition policy issues. Drawing on your skills, bringing teams and people together in an inclusive and thoughtful way, you will work closely with internal teams– including policy, legal, comms, and product– to shape our initiatives and build relationships with stakeholders. For the Meta family of applications and services, you will be responsible for competition policy issues such as those related to merger enforcement policy and digital regulation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Articulate our competition policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses, and internal policy meetings
- Understand, identify and anticipate key competition policy challenges affecting Meta, monitoring, managing, and engaging on all regulatory and policy issues impacting competition policy for the Meta family of applications and services in Latin America
- Plan and lead cross-functional efforts in partnership with internal teams on strategy for building relationships with policymakers and civil society for competition policy initiatives
- Build coalitions with other organizations to advance competition policy goals of the Meta family of applications and services
- Advise internal teams on competition policy matters to guide development of products, services, choice and competition related investments, technologies and policies
- Represent Meta in meetings and discussions with key stakeholders on all competition policy related topics
- Work with political bodies, policymakers, and NGOs on technology and competition policy issues, driving key strategic outcomes
- Collaborate and ensure consistency in approach to competition policy issues across the region
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- 12 or more years of experience with public policy
- Fluency in English and either Spanish or Portuguese
- Experience with analytical and creative approach to competition policy issues
- Experience building coalitions and representing a company externally
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience working on competition policy matters
- Experience influencing without authority and effectively partnering with cross-functional teams
- Experience working with political systems and institutions across Latin America as well as policy, politics or communications
