    Job Description:

    The primary purpose of this position is to provide a student trainee in the summer hire program with on-the-job training and guidance. The student trainee will perform somewhat difficult and responsible clerical work in office, business, or fiscal operations.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Processes incoming mail.
    • Maintains files and posts updates to manuals on policies, directives, and memoranda.
    • Performs routine, miscellaneous clerical work.
    • Receives and directs telephone calls or visitors.
    • Prepares and maintains office forms of various types such as; overtime requests, time sheets, and timecards for personnel within the office.

    Job Requirements/Qualifications:

    • U.S. citizen or national (resident of American Samoa or Swains Island)
    • This position is established under the provisions of the Pathways Program
    • Must sign a Participant Agreement
    • Must have a good academic standing (no less than 2.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale for bachelor’s programs and 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale for master’s program
    • You must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
    • Meet the qualification standards of the position
    • Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the education institution (typically six hours or equivalent for undergraduate and three hours or equivalent for graduate)
    • Must meet suitability requirements for Federal employment
    • Must be at least 16 years of age
    • Males 18 years or older must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guidance
    • Must be enrolled at least half-time at a qualiflying accredited institution
