Job Description:

HUAWEI Canada Research Center is currently seeking a co-op position for Cloud Database DevOps Engineer. This is a great opportunity for successful candidates to be part of an industry leading team to build the next generation of cloud-native databases on cloud. You will have the opportunities to work with world’s-top researchers and engineers in cloud and database engine technology areas on quality assurance and automation framework. The role requires individuals to work among our worldwide research centers (Canada and China, etc.). Strong communication skills are required.

Job Responsibilities:

Build and setup development tools and infrastructure.
Develop automation test framework and test tools.
Perform system testing for cloud, high availability and reliable database solution.
Write and review testcases and test specifications.
Develop problem determination solution for DBMS and drive toward root cause identification and resolution on cloud environment.
Work as part of a small, high performance, and startup-like team mainly using C/C++ for development.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience in database and storage system structures and transaction processing.
Good understanding of database fundamentals, such as, transaction management, storage engine, MVCC, SQL optimization, recovery, HA.
Proficient in UNIX scripting and Python programming.
Strong knowledge of SQL, C/C++ and JAVA.
Strong research capability and ability to learn new technologies/products quickly.
Excellent communication and presentation skills are required.
Good analytics skills. Ability to handle complex tasks by assessing issues and breaking down problems to reach an optimal solution.
Ability to work with minimal guidance and have a strong sense of responsibility.
Had experience in different multiple database management systems like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Db2, Teradata.
Good understanding of cloud computing technologies, such as, cloud storage, distributed systems, parallel computations, consistency protocols.
Cloud computing and distributed system research background, such as having experience on Azure or AWS.
Had experience designing overall database system release QA plan.
Had experience in Linux administration.
Scripting languages, Docker, OpenStack.
