    Job Description:

    This position is the strategic and innovation lead for Medicare Supplement pricing team. Cigna Supplemental Benefits (CSB) has been growing rapidly since 2016 with Medicare Supplement revenues now exceeding $1.2b annually.   The Medicare Supplement industry is highly competitive with commodity product, together with complications of MACRA legislation, the growing senior’s population, and other macro factors. As a result, innovation and differentiation are the key to our strategy and continued success.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Support pilot programs from actuarial and financial perspective – perform due diligence and lay out the financial ground work for preliminary ideas, and then aim to quickly move such potential opportunities and ideas into actionable steps by partnering with product and operation team. Take ownership in monitoring and reacting to the actuarial observations. Own strategic business case modeling.
    • Have enterprise mindset and support cross functional initiatives – partner with distribution and product teams to support cross functional projects, and further improve cross sell and upsale of CSB customers.
    • Serve as back up signing actuary – review and sign actuarial rate filings as needed, as well as provide backup filing support and analysis when needed.
      Price for unique features and designs – be responsible for all pricing work/analysis that are non-traditional MedSupp. Examples include but not limited to various types of VAS (value adding service), specialty bundling (such as Dental/Vision/Hearing, Short term care) when applicable.
    • Serve as innovation lead for all Medicare Supplement plans/products/entities. Through partnership with division leadership, identify opportunities to drive differentiation above and beyond the standardized MedSupp plans, and attract more favorable risk profiles in the market, within the strict Medicare Supplement regulatory constraints. Understand the competitive environment, and competitors’ unique designs and features.
    • Incorporate market insights into pricing strategy. Understand various types of market insights/survey/reports and translate implications into key take-aways and improvement opportunities.

    Job Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Strong innovative mindset
    • Strong willingness and ability to deal with ambiguity, solve open-ended problems and drive for results
    • 6-8+ years of actuarial experience in related field
    • Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or related field
    • Strong ability to communicate with variety of non-actuarial audiences
    • FSA preferred, qualifications to sign rate filings required
    • Medicare Supplement experience preferred
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
