    Job Responsibilities:

    • Build and validate next-generation solid state cells and develop new processes for this purpose
    • Design and execute high quality experiments using statistical and machine learning methodologies
    • Test cell performance and conduct failure analysis to understand key levers to improve design
    • Contribute to scaling production of validation prototypes
    • Collaborate with and learn from a powerhouse team of materials engineers, design and simulation engineers, and data scientists to accelerate learning cycles and optimization of cell designs

    Job Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Enrolled in a Masters/PhD candidate or recent graduate in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, chemistry, or a related field
    • Foundational understanding of electrochemistry and mechanics of solid state battery materials, including common failure modes and design principles
    • Hands-on laboratory experience including coin or (preferably) pouch cell building, electrochemical evaluation, materials characterization, and data analytics
    • Experience with lab-based processing methods including mixing, coating, calendaring, and cell assembly
    • Strong motivation and enthusiasm to be at the forefront of next-generation battery development
    • A learning mindset and collaborative approach to solving problems

    Salary Range/Hourly Rate for Colorado Based Applicants: The range of pay for internships is 25.00-51.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, and other factors permitted by law.

    Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
